When to plant pistachio seedlings

From the beginning of autumn to the first half of autumn, in this season, due to the appropriate temperature of night and day and moderate temperature, it is recommended that farmers who intend to plant seedlings, start planting.

Why is this season recommende

Step 1: Autumn

In autumn, the planted tree due to suitable conditions of temperature and autumn rains has this possibility of being more greenery and greater growth, and after the end of autumn, the roots of the seedlings are grafted to the soil and go into hibernation.

In winter, which is the season of rooting, seedlings begin to grow and can even feed the roots.

With the onset of spring, the seedlings grow tremendously, and your seedlings become to the size of a two-year-old seedling.

Second stage: planting in the second half of winter

In the second half of winter until the end of the season, seedlings should be planted. And

The process of root grafting to the soil takes at least two to three months, and the seedlings begin their early stages of growth in the second half of spring, and then in the end of spring and the beginning of summer, the growth of seedlings stops.

In addition, if the soil and water conditions are not suitable, the seedlings do not have any growth in the first year and only remain green in their original form.

Third stage: the first half of spring

In the case of spring seedlings, and the summer heat and sometimes long irrigation circuits cause the seedlings to not grow and your seedlings will remain green until the end of the season in the best condition.

Of course, sometimes in some areas due to good weather conditions, It can be considered a good time in this season.

In general, the percentage of casualties observed is as follows

In autumn planting is less than 5%

In the second half of winter less than 30%

In the spring sometimes up to 60%

How to plant pistachio seedlings

For planting pistachios, a soil should be selected as it has loam (medium) soil and the minimum soil depth should be 3 meters. Therefore, it is clear that in areas with sandy soil, planting pistachio trees does not give good results

In order to plant a pistachio tree in the garden, two methods are used:

Direct sowing method:

In this method, pistachios are planted directly in the main land. If your garden water is not salty and you can grow pistachios in the main land, you can use the direct planting method, because seedlings grow more in this method.

For this purpose, it is better to use hand-made pistachios (pistachios that have been peeled with a machine are not suitable for planting in this way).

For this purpose, in early April, first wash the pistachios and soak them in water. Change the water two to three times and leave it in water for 24 hours to stay, after 24 hours, take it out of the water and put it between a cotton cloth and Spread on a tray and let stand in a room at a temperature of about 24 degrees (the normal temperature of the room in which we live) until it sprouts. Note that pistachios do not always retain moisture, in other words, the fabric does not dry out.

When the buds reach about half a centimeter, move to the main ground.

It is better to plant the buds downwards when planting.

After planting the pistachios, pour a mixture of cow manure and a little sand on the soil surface and if it is likely that animals such as foxes and crows will bring out the pistachios, cover it with thorns or a disposable container.

Potting method:

Seedlings can live in pots until they are 3 or 4 years old. However, during this period, you should pay attention to soil nutrients and strengthen the soil.

The best time to plant potted pistachio seedlings in the main field is during the summer season.

This method helps to save water a lot. Planting time in pots is late winter and early spring.

method:

  1. Moisten a towel or napkin and put the seeds in it. From time to time, it is not bad to push the seeds aside to find the air flowing between the napkins.
  2. Keep the wet towel at room temperature and wait a week for the seeds to germinate.
  3. When the seeds start to germinate, it is better to transfer them to a cup or small pot. When planting, the bud should be down. Make sure that the end of the pot has a hole for water to come out. Lack of proper pores and drainage causes the seed to die before it reaches the growth

stage. Be careful not to over-water the pot.

  1. After the time and proper rooting of young seeds, you should transfer them to larger pots. Pots should be kept in them until they reach the size of seedlings, and then plant them outside.
