A two-month trial was conducted on 40  depressed individuals in Iran. Some patients were randomly assigned to take 20  mg of prozac anti-depressants on a daily basis, and the remaining 20  patients consumed 15  mg of saffron petals twice a day, and the researchers concluded that saffron had similar effects to anti-depressants. . This substance affects the endocrine system and helps reduce stress and anxiety. Since ancient times, people have been using saffron to relax and improve restful sleep due to its sedative properties. Saffron also enhances learning and memory.

Meanwhile in Japan, saffron is packed in capsules and used to treat amnesia and Parkinson's. Crocin prevents problems with mind degradation, such as Alzheimer's, which occurs as a result of aging.
